An autumn cocktail with a mix of sprint and endurance during the weekend of 28th, 29th and 30th September

With the Spa Euro Race, the Royal Automobile Club of Spa traditionally brings about the summer festivities on the greatest circuit in the world. With the Racing Festival, they are giving the kick-off for the second part of the season. On Friday 18th, Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September, good habits are being respected, with a quite simply exceptional programme mixing Touring cars, GT and Prototypes, offering up the various competitions a turn when it comes to focussing on the titles.

Supercar and Belcar! On the loyalty front, these competitions, one Dutch and the other Belgian, but then both finally Benelux, are beyond reproach. This season at the Racing Festival Dick van Elk’s troops are offering themselves a first joint excursion into the Ardennes, both with the Supercar Challenge as also the GT & Prototype Challenge. Disciplines where both spectacle and suspense are always present.

On the Belcar front they are also doubling up. Apart from the Belcar Endurance Championship, whose visits to the Spa circuit have always been highly popular, there will also be the arrival of a combined Belcar Historic Cup and Belcar Youngtimer Cup. Here it’s a question of classic cars in sprint version. More than promising, with an enormous grid split into two sections, with a first take off for the ‘Youngtimers’ followed by a second for the ‘Historics’. To be thoroughly enjoyed by the aficionados of classic machinery.

Among the new items of the 2018 sporting season at Benelux level, the Ford Fiesta Sprint Cup will be on hand in top formation during the Racing Festival. The Belgian and Dutch competitions will in fact be sharing the track, with a swarm of some forty Ford Fiesta ST-Line are heading for the legendary Raidillon. The both pure and tough sprint, in single-make mode is back!

When it comes to sprint, we also come across the Caterham Graduates, whose close-knit pack of machines inspired by the Lotus Seven are regular visitors at the undulating Ardennes circuit. And knowing the cult that the British devote to the Belgian national circuit, we know that the battle will be flat out to have the privilege of finding themselves on the Francorchamps podium.

Final Racing Festival tradition: the access to the circuit, via La Source, is entirely free, including the paddocks. Now high time to blacken the last weekend of September in your diaries….not to be missed!
