A year ago, the 48th Condroz-Huy Rally came to a sad end. And although the 49th edition of the autumn classic was considered for a long time by the driving forces behind the Royal Motor Club de Huy, the conditions finally imposed by some, starting with a change of period on the calendar, resulted in a new direction. The Condroz-Huy Rally, as a speed event and round of the Belgian Rally Championship, has been through...

But there's no question of the Royal Motor Club de Huy standing idly by. In November 2023, a new chapter in motor sport in the Huy region will begin...

In fact, the project isn't really new, comments Yves Risac, General Secretary. The idea of setting up an event exclusively reserved for classic cars had been in the pipeline for some time. With Etienne Massillon and Colin Kohl joining the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne race direction team, the Royal Motor Club de Huy was already in the thick of things. That was all it took for us to get closer to the Royal Automobile Club de Spa, which organises Bastogne, in order to base our new event on known and recognised foundations. So the Legend Condroz Rally was born, and it will take place on Friday 10, Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 May 2024 !

While the route of the 1st Legend Condroz Rally is still being worked out, with safety plans to be submitted in early December, from a sporting point of view the categories that have made the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne such a success for many years will be retained. “In total collaboration with Pierre Delettre, who will be at our side for the launch of this new event, we will be using the same category names, explains Franck Godelet, President of the Royal Motor Club de Huy. There will be a 'Legend' category, based on the 'Target Time' principle, a 'Challenger' category at an average speed of 80 km/h, a 'Youngtimers' one for cars built between 1991 and 2000, 'Classic 65' for regularity at 65 km/h maximum, and 'Classic 50' at 50 km/h maximum. All of this will take place on closed stages, which will be known as regularity tests. So we find ourselves with a new event reserved for cars from the olden days, much slower than today's racing cars, at a time of year when the roads are inevitably less greasy..."

Over the coming weeks, the Royal Motor Club de Huy and the Royal Automobile Club de Spa will be joining forces to ensure that the Legend Condroz Rally is promoted in the best possible way, at a time of year when historic competitions are back in the limelight.

In addition, and as has been made official by the Royal Motor Club de Huy, a Rallye du Condroz-Huy, the 49th of its kind, will indeed be organised on 1, 2 and 3 November 2024! It will be a purely regularity event, of the 'Classic' type, in the tradition of other events of which Belgium can be proud, reminding us that in 1953, the 10 Hours of Condroz-Hesbaye, which soon became the 12 Hours of Huy, already gave pride of place to regularity.

As you can see, on the banks of the Meuse in Huy, we're forging ahead as we embark on a new period in the history of the Royal Motor Club de Huy. At a time when historical events have probably never been so popular...
