The 100 participants mark will soon be reached/Stops in Saint-Hubert and Habay-la-Neuve
With a month and a half to go before the first edition of the Circuit des Ardennes Commemoration, organised by the Royal Automobile Club of Spa, preparations for the event are continuing apace. At the end of May, stops in Saint-Hubert on Saturday 12 July and Habay-La-Neuve on Sunday 13 July have been confirmed, while the number of vehicles registered is about to pass the 100 mark. In short, things are continuing to move in the right direction...
Taking over an organisation, especially one of this kind, is never easy. Succeeding the non-profit organisation Commémoration du Circuit des Ardennes, the Royal Automobile Club de Spa is continuing to develop an event that will retain its main features while making room for new ideas. And participants are already signing up...
Among the major news items of recent weeks is the official confirmation of a prestigious stopover on both Saturday and Sunday! The R.A.C. Spa is delighted with the contacts made with the municipal authorities of Saint-Hubert and Habay-la-Neuve, the two towns that will be in the spotlight...
On Saturday 12 July, participants will have the opportunity to parade along the prestigious Place de l'Abbaye de Saint-Hubert after stopping a hundred metres further on, at the Place du Fays, where there is a breathtaking view of the Abbey Palace complex! The Confrérie de la Saint-Hubert will be responsible for organising the event, including traffic management and parking for cars and motorcycles, small marquees, fast food, sound system, commentator, etc. Participants wishing to spend more time in Saint-Hubert will of course have the opportunity to enjoy the nearby terraces and other hospitality establishments.
The following day, Sunday, Habay-la-Neuve will honour the tradition by once again welcoming the Commemoration of the Circuit des Ardennes caravan before it sets off again for Bastogne. The gathering will take place at the end of the morning on the Place de la Liberté, a stone's throw from the town centre, home to the Maîtres du Grand Feu d'Habay. Here too, entertainment, food and drink and a friendly atmosphere will be on the agenda. A reminder that the event is above all about fun for participants and the public alike!
"As we make these two main stops in Saint-Hubert and Habay-la-Neuve official, I would like to commend the Royal Automobile Club of Spa for the excellent relations they have established with the authorities in both towns,’ said Pierre Delettre on behalf of the organisation. The interest generated by the Commemoration of the Circuit des Ardennes speaks volumes about the desire to protect this important heritage that is the vintage car and the organisation of this first closed-circuit race at the dawn of the 20th century. The agreements reached with Saint-Hubert and Habay-la-Neuve also highlight the tourist impact of such an event. In Jean-Paul Dachy in Saint-Hubert, as well as Albert and Georges Thiry in Habay, the R.A.C. Spa can count on high-quality allies who are familiar with the event. Their contributions and initiatives have been essential, and we will be sure to thank them on the second weekend of July..."
An entry list that already looks promising...
As for the event itself, each day brings one or more additional cars, and not just any cars... "With brands such as Bugatti, Alfa Romeo, Amilcar, Mercedes-Benz, Hotchkiss, Aston Martin, Alvis, Morris, UNIC, Peugeot, Citroën, De Dion, Austin, Salmson, Riley, FN, Ariès, Rolls-Royce, Chevrolet, MG, Singer, Bentley, Nagant and many more, just for the period between the birth of the motor car and the end of the 1930s, the list of entrants already looks very impressive," continues Pierre Delettre. And fans of beautiful cars from the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s will also be delighted, as there is clearly no shortage of eclecticism on offer. For the moment, vintage motorcycles are still a little slow in coming, but discussions are underway with several clubs..."
Remember that participants in this 2025 Ardennes Circuit Commemoration will be able to enjoy a professionally designed route and roadbook, a meal on Saturday, in collaboration with Lunch Garden, access to the Drivers' Club located on Place McAuliffe - where the opening cocktail party will take place on Friday evening and the bal musette on Saturday evening - as well as various souvenirs, including a boater hat, the official event plaque with its new logo, a finisher's medal, photos, a welcome pack, and more.
By pulling out all the stops to ensure a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere, the Royal Automobile Club de Spa aims to convince regular visitors to non-sporting events of its expertise and attentiveness.
