The Legend Boucles @ Bastogne 2022 finally starts...

Effervescence at the Marché Couvert,

enthusiasm after the first rides

This time, we are there! This Thursday, the technical and administrative control operations for the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne 2022 started. This is the opportunity for the different teams to get acquainted with the Marché Couvert where the rally will be centralised for this edition. During this time, some cars have swallowed a few kilometres by way of burn-in...

If the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne 2022 are deprived, for the reasons we know, of Place McAuliffe and of the city centre, we might as well admit it, the exceptional move towards the Marché Couvert, in a nearby industrial area, also has its advantages. Not only is there no shortage of space, but there is also a certain comfort for the official teams and the spectators.

While the weather forecast confirms the omnipresence of the sun at the end of the week, it is in an early spring atmosphere that the technical and administrative control operations started. With many smiles on their faces, everyone was clearly happy to be there, even one month after the initial date. These checks will continue tomorrow during the day, before the big departure for the first RTs on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, in a small area nearby, several teams have gathered to make a few insignificant runs, but ideal to take the temperature. Coming from Béthune, Stéphane Lefebvre was able to discover the driving of Christophe Jacob's Ford Escort MK2 Gr.4. And the Nordic driver clearly appreciated it! "Great", he exclaimed outright. Of course, the speeds reached on Thursday had nothing in common with what awaits the competitors during the weekend, but we can bet that it won't take long for the recent winner of the Rallye du Condroz-Huy and the Rally van Haspengouw to understand how to use his emblematic car! Here is the expected competition...

A few metres away, Cédric Cherain was in the Porsche 911 Gr.4 of the August Porsche Addiction team, in the presence of Renaud Jamoul and Lionel Hansen. And if the Liège driver is confident, he knows that on Saturday, Lefebvre is likely to set a rather high pace.

It has been said over and over again that this 2022 edition of the Legend Boucles @ Bastogne could be the one of the outsiders. Christophe Daco (Ford Escort MK2) and Gérard Marcy (Porsche 911 Gr.4 ), who are all candidates for the final podium, as well as Stefaan Stouf (Ford Escort MK1), Olivier Cartelle (Ford Escort MK2), Harold de Hemptinne (Ford Escort MK2), Renaud Verreydt (Ford Escort MK1), Jonas Langenakens (Ford Escort MK2), Frédéric François (Ford Escort MK2), Loïc Pirot (Ford Escort MK2), etc. Hot on the trail!

With a good thirty hours to go before the start of the sporting festivities, it would be difficult to predict the final top 3 of the event organised by the Royal Automobile Club de Spa. This is also true for the 'Youngtimers', 'Challenger', 'Classic 60' and 'Classic 50' categories. In short, there will be some sport...
